The split

The buyer pays the listed item price + tax (if the shop charges tax) + shipping (if the item ships) + a 5% platform fee with a $1 minimum + a card processing fee.

The shop gets the item price, tax, and shipping. ShelfTonight keeps the 5%.

Platform fee (5%, min $1)

5% of the item price, never less than $1. An extra line the buyer pays — not taken from the shop’s sticker.

Card processing

Card, Apple Pay, and PayPal run through Stripe. The card fee covers Stripe’s typical US processing (2.9% + $0.30) on the whole charge, sized so the 5% stays net.

Pickup and shipping

Pickup in the shop’s town has no shipping line. Ship items add the postage the buyer pays so the shop can buy the label. See /shipping.

Refunds

If the shop refunds you, they refund item + tax + shipping. The 5% platform fee stays with ShelfTonight. Details at /refunds.
